Bloatware + freeing up space

I have an HTC Desire Eye since january of this year. All is well, except the free space on the device is running out.
2 options... The lazy one is buying a bigger memorycard, but as the Desire is filled with unwanted/unneeded apps, I was wondering if I could somehow remove those apps.

Other thing I noticed is that the device is slowing down... Would it help to drop the standard Android installation and install some cleanROM?

Lack of storage space

Hi, I have 3 GB free from 4 GB of all and I can't install any app. Th eproblem began when I format internal disk to f2fs and install new ROM CM 12.1. After this ROM i formated internal and all its partition to ext4 and install new ROM Carbon in my signature. In both of this ROM it happened problem when I fill some space on the disk and then I can't install any app. (Error message: Lack of storage space). Yet I have 3 GB free and app has only a few MB.
I don't know if it's error of Android 5 or some wrong formating of disk but I tip some error in Android because I formated disk back to original form and the problem persists. In Adroid 4 it was all OK.
Please help.

Here I upload screerecord about this: https://www.dropbox.com/sc/pibe42i0w...CdM9uW-IK_h1za

Normal Space utilization on stock S5?

Ok, so for once I have a stock, unrooted phone, AT&T S5. Ever since the last firmware upgrade I've been getting a lot of storage issues, so I started looking at things and none of it makes sense to me. I use an sdcard for just about everything, but this is how the storage breaks down at the moment on the internal storage :

16gb total
11.5 gb in 'internal storage' - meaning, as I understand, 4.5gb of OS partitions
This is where things get squirrely
1.28 gb of used user files
1.5gb free
0 gb cache (i just emptied it.)
So, about 8+gb are in unnamed 'system, but not os' files. Wtf??

The way I read this it I have 3gb of usable space - shared with cache (that within days goes to 1.5gb+) on a 16gb phone. Meanwhile, I went through and moved just about anything of size to sdcard. I have a fair number of apps, but not an extreme amount and nothing that unusual.

So, is this normal? And is there a way to figure out what is stealing that 8+gb of space without root and maybe remove it??

Part of me suspects it is some non-cache temp files - esp firmware updates (there have been a few, and they are large, and things seem to get worse after each firmware push.

Thanks,

Smartswitch issue: error "not enough hard disk space" on the PC

Hi all,

I recently switch from a S3 to a S6 (SM-G920F). I used to use Kies to update the S3. Now that I have a S6, I installed Smartswitch (latest available release) on my PC (a PC running Windows 7 Home 64 bits). But unfortunately, I have a problem using Smartswitch and I can't do the update of the S6. Smartswitch detects the S6 and find that there is a new update for it. I confirm the dialog box to run the update process. But Smartswitch does not start the download of the update and immediately displays the following error message (I translate it into English as I use Smartswitch in French):
"The hard disk of the PC has not enough free space available (at least 3000 MB required). Remove programs/data that you don't need any more and try again.".
The problem is that I have much more than 3 GB free space available on the hard disks of my PC!!! :p : Windows system disk has 70 GB free, user data disk has 25 GB free and temporary files disk has 5 GB free!
I tried to uninstall Kies and Smartswitch and then only install Smartswitch. But the error still occurs. Of course, I could update the S6 by OTA. But before that, I would like to understand what happens with Smartswitch and how I could solve this problem. For the moment, I have no idea how to find where the problem is .

Does anyone encounter this issue? Or does anyone have an idea of something to try?

Thank you all for your help! :highfive:

Steph

No space to write anyting to system 6.0

So i read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexu...d-6-0-t3219852 and its seems to me that im not the only one with only 16mb of space left in the system partition (after busy box). This pretty much denies me to do anything like edit build.prop to get the multiwindow feature, or to write GSam battery monitor root app to system (even though these take up mere bytes/kbytes of data, 16mb is not enough).

Just putting it out there. Im not sure if im the only one who has trouble actually manipulating the system partition, or is it just me. But when i use lets say, ES File manager to edit the build.prop (in root mode) and all i do is ad 5 letters to the whole thing (d e b u g) ES file manager will tell me it cant save it because there is no space in system.

Ive tried messing with permissions to see if i could override to no avail, and tried using twrp but it doesn't offer me any options to do so.

So how are we gonna solve this now?

[Q] Keyboard w/macros AND missed space bar detection?

Is there such an animal? I really love using short macros/autotext/shortcuts - but my biggest typos is when I miss the space bar and click a B or N instead.

I'm only aware of Swiftkey for space bar detection, but they don't have macros.

Any good keyboard that has both ??

(dang it, meant to post in Q&A - mods please move while I look to see how to delete this post - sent a request to have thread moved)
