I first got this app for my FireTV and loved it. Developer now created an android tv version compatible with nexus player.
It allows you to use your stock remote as a mouse. Root is required on the nexus player.
No brainer for .99 as it eliminates the need for a separate bluetooth mouse or trackpad.
