So here's what is going on:
I had an iPhone, iMessage enabled. Moved to a Note 5 and continued my group text with 2 other iPhone users and one Android user. I don't remember specifically when I got the phone if everyone was responding or not, but I believe they were.
Somewhere along the lines one of the users stopped responding and a day or two later sent a message to us saying he received all of our texts one morning about 3 am in a group. Ever since then messaging has been a problem.
I can send group messages to the 4 of us, 2 of them get it, and this one iPhone user can't. Tested just me, him and the other iphone user - same issue.
He's tried factory resetting the phone, a new SIM card, updating the OS and probably a couple other things.
I've tried removing my devices from iMessage, calling apple to ensure I'm removed, even tried texting from Pinger as a test. It all indicates his phone is causing issues.
However, last night he shut off some sort of wi-fi assist where I think it uses both cell and wi-fi to send data (I think I read this feature was enabled by default on the new IOS9)
That seemed to work but then I noticed I wasn't getting the OTHER iPhone's text messages, but he was getting mine.
Went to another group text without the original iphone user in it but the second iphone user in it, and he and I can text just fine.
So basically, as it stands right now, I want to pull my hair out. I can't tell if this issue is on my end since I switched from an iPhone to an Android, or if its on their end. I had an issue a couple years ago when Is witched off my iphone where I didn't get anyone's iMessages in a group text - that was at the time when Apple's whole deal with contacts and iMessages came out so I fell into that problem.
I have no idea what to look at, how to test this any more and it's really actually infuriating. It's 2015. I should be able to send a text message to two or three people at one time without it causing issues.
Also - is there a way to shut off group messages as an MMS? I think that might be part of the problem but I don't know what I'm looking for.
Thank you.
