comprehensive guide of rooting 5.1.x with NO recovery and locked bootloader.



This guide works with 5.1.x out of the box or updated to 5.1.x and lost root with NO recovery. You don't have to deal with bootloader.

Preparation:
1. Install adb driver from Sony developers if you have not done so
2. Download 4.4.x ROM in ftf
3. Open Flashtool and click the right icon to open Xperifirm. Pick your favorite region and download. Close Xperifirm after ROM has been downloaded and unpacked and Flashtool will take care the rest, and leave Flashtool open.
4. Use PRFcreator to create your pre-rooted ROM in zip. Source ROM can be found at (username)\Flashtool\firmwares.
5. Backup your device using backup tool to memory card. ALL DATA WILL BE WIPED DURING PROCESS!!!
6. Fully charge your device because the process can take up to 90 minutes.

Process:
1. Turn off your phone, press and hold the volume down button and connect to host computer when Flashtool prompted to flash. (You have to wipe everything). Once flashing has been completed, unplug your phone and turn it on. If you encounter bootloop, flash again.
2. Run initial setup and enable Developers Tools (touch Build Number few times in about phone). Enable USB Debugging. Unplug and replug your phone and accept your host computer.
3. Locate and copy the pre-rooted ROM into INTERNAL STORAGE.
4. Run install.bat in lockeddualrecovery installer and choose option 3.
5. When your phone is in TWRP, locate and install pre-rooted ROM.
6. Reboot the phone. The kernel update process can take rather long, so please be patient.
7. Restore your phone.
8. Process completed.
