How to keep an app from "Dozing"?

I wish to keep my Gmail app from Dozing so under Battery Optimization I configured it to not be optimized. That doesn't work. After an hour or so (maybe less) I am not alerted to any incoming emails (and Gmail doesn't sync) until I wake up the phone. Gmail works fine except when Dozing. Totally stock unrooted Android 6.0 on Tmo. Phone and all apps work great. I wonder if I need to configure any of the other system apps to not Doze in order to allow Gmail to not Doze?

Any ideas?

Is the windows 10 upgrade easy or should I keep waiting for windows 10 stock

I ordered a windows 10 version of this tablet over 3 weeks ago and it just isn't coming in stock where I ordered it but I see that they do have a windows 8.1 version in stock. From what I have seen upgrading to windows 10 doesn't look like a lot of fun. Can you comment on your experience and if you think I should just keep waiting for one with windows 10 already installed to come into stock.

Not satisfied with CM 12 how to back to stock but keep root

Hi!
I sincerely didn't thought that there would be an official 5.1.1 rom. So there it is. In the meanwhile I switched to CM but the performance and specially of the camera is not to live with.

I officially unlocked the bootloader and installed twrp.

How can I install the stock rom 14.6.A.0.368 (5.1.1) and keep root. Or how can I get it back afterwards?

Thanks!!!

Why do I keep seeing people talk about stock 5.1.1 on the XT1096?

Am I completely missing something? Last I knew 5.1 was the latest OTA on XT1096, not 5.1.1.

Menu and back buttons keep repeatedly pressing ...even in recovery mode

I recently flashed my GT-i9506 and installed CyanogenMod. After finishing, the back and menu buttons (more often the menu button) kept getting pressed with the backlight on and vibrations too without me touching them. The weird thing is that while I was trying to fix it by going to various recovery modes after constantly switching the problem happened there too. The screen was recently replaced but I don't recall this happening at all on the stock ROM after the repairment.

Here's what happened:
  • I used Heimdall to flash TeamWin recovery but kept getting a common problem with PIT files while in download mode (can't post links because I'm a new user)

  • I compiled SaburoJiro's Heimdall fork as suggested and that seemed to fix the issue. TeamWin recovery was flashed succesfully.

  • I flashed the official CyanogenMod rom for gt-i9506 following the instructions on their wiki page. Everything seemed to work fine up until the point where the OS started up.

What I tried:
  • Tried various recovery images including TeamWin and ClockworkMod Recovery. The problem happens on both.

  • Used both Odin and Heimdall to flash.

  • Factory resets and cache clearing

A temporary solution is to enable the on screen navbar, which disabled the hardware keys which were causing the problem. The keys still keep lighting up while the screen is on but they don't do anything.

Is there any way to restore the phone beyond recovery mode (which this seems to happen in too)? I'm pretty sure this isn't a hardware issue.

Disable OTA - Keep SDCard Write Access and Use a Different Launcher *READ BEFORE BOOT

This must be done before the first time you connect to Wifi or you will likely receive the update that will "fix" the two features in the title. I purchased a second Fire to determine what it would take to disable the initial OTA. At no time connect to Wifi until all this is complete!

The steps are basically as follows:

Boot the fire the first time and bypass the setup.

Enable ADB by going to Settings> Device Options. Keep tapping on the Serial Number field until the Developer options field appears.

Under Developer options Enable ADB

Hook the Fire up to your computer and do the following commands:

adb shell pm hide com.amazon.otaverifier
adb shell pm hide com.amazon.device.software.ota
adb shell pm hide com.amazon.settings.systemupdates

I don't know which of three is the magic one, But you can not longer go to device options > system update. It also never appears to pull down the update in the background. I've rebooted multiple times and used the tablet on wifi with no update to 5.0.1.

This will work on a fresh out of the box tablet but once updated, well you've got to wait for other more talented people to figure out how to get root.

Nexus Player & HDHomerun keep pausing

With the Marshmallow 6.0 update my Nexus Player has started to be able to play TV from the HDHomerun Prime(CableCard) but it will play for about 2-3 minutes and then pause. It does it in both the Live Channels and HD home run app. I have tried with the Nexus Player on WiFi and with an rj45 USB otg adapter. Anyone have any ideas?

Another reason to keep your Note 3

I recently purchased a Galaxy note Edge for my daughter and rooted it to enable the Hotspot. Found out the Note Edge with Sprint Spark is single Antenna device. So, if the Hotspot is enabled and your using it to run a laptop. Then at the same time you receive a phone call it drops the Hotspot internet connection.

In other words you cannot receive calls and data at the same time. The Note 4, Note 5, Note Edge, S6, and S6 Edge all have a single antenna. The Note 3 is the last Samsung device to send and receive data and phone calls at the same time. Just another reason I still run a Note 3 . :good: ;)
