No internet connection even I have LTE/WiFi enabled

Recently I have ran into weird problem. My internet was working fine until yesterdays afternoon. I had LTE on and suddenly it stopped loading anything. Browser didnt load any page, fb didnt refresh et cetera. I tried to reboot system over and over but it also didn't work. And magically suddenly it started to work again. At this time internet is working, but I am afraid it will stop in the most anticipated moment. All above also applies to any WiFi network. What can I do? I have flat S6 running XstreoLite, based on COI9 newest firmware (modem is also COI9).

Why do some messages not have contacts' names on them, just phone number that they were sent from, even though they are entered as contacts?

Impossible to connect me to android market even with google account

Hi everybody
I own a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10i.
For almost 2 years I am not connected to the Internet with me.
I updated with PC Companion 2.1
android version 2.3.3
Baseband Version: 2.1.71
version of the nucleus: 2.6.29
build number: 3.0.1.G.0.75
Wishing to upgrade the android version 4 or 5, I wanted to download Root Checker Basic to see if my phone was ROOTED because I have read that when the phone was unlocked (I changed of operator company and I gave it to unlock) this meant that he was ROOTED
Unable to connect me to Android Market asks me to add a google account.
When I log into my gmail account and I want to download this application I have message on the phone create a new account or login with an existing account: so connecting to gmail withe my IDs and after a message saying " your phone has to communicate with Google servers it may take up to 5 minutes" and then I have the following final message: UNABLE TO ESTABLISH A RELIABLE DATA CONNECTION WITH THE SERVER, YOU MAY NOT GET THE DATA SERVICE WITH YOUR PHONE.
I tried to download Root Checker Basic from a site but once I doubled click on the download I had a message like "error code".
CONCLUSION: I can connect to my google account but every time I want to download something that is impossible.(and I am connected to Internet with wifi)
Thanks for your help. Best regards.
Thank you very much for your help.

Wifi turned on even during a sleep - Marshmallow 6.0

"keep wifi on during sleep" is set to "only when plugged in" - it worked like a charm in lollipop (it switched off wifi after some minutes of disactivity), it doesn't now.

HTC Sync Manager says update needed even though I'm on the lastest version.

I finally unlocked my bootloader and immediately ran into problems. I went to restore my phone to one of sync managers backups but when I connect my phone to my pc, I get a popup within sync manager saying "update needed, This device needs to connect with the latest version of HTC Sync Manager. Please check for update or download". Weird thing is that I'm on the lastest version, version 3.1.54.2. I just can't get sync to work. Can someone please give me a solution?

Phone Stats:
One M8 (At&t) 5.0.2
Unlocked bootloader

Menu and back buttons keep repeatedly pressing ...even in recovery mode

I recently flashed my GT-i9506 and installed CyanogenMod. After finishing, the back and menu buttons (more often the menu button) kept getting pressed with the backlight on and vibrations too without me touching them. The weird thing is that while I was trying to fix it by going to various recovery modes after constantly switching the problem happened there too. The screen was recently replaced but I don't recall this happening at all on the stock ROM after the repairment.

Here's what happened:
  • I used Heimdall to flash TeamWin recovery but kept getting a common problem with PIT files while in download mode (can't post links because I'm a new user)

  • I compiled SaburoJiro's Heimdall fork as suggested and that seemed to fix the issue. TeamWin recovery was flashed succesfully.

  • I flashed the official CyanogenMod rom for gt-i9506 following the instructions on their wiki page. Everything seemed to work fine up until the point where the OS started up.

What I tried:
  • Tried various recovery images including TeamWin and ClockworkMod Recovery. The problem happens on both.

  • Used both Odin and Heimdall to flash.

  • Factory resets and cache clearing

A temporary solution is to enable the on screen navbar, which disabled the hardware keys which were causing the problem. The keys still keep lighting up while the screen is on but they don't do anything.

Is there any way to restore the phone beyond recovery mode (which this seems to happen in too)? I'm pretty sure this isn't a hardware issue.

My S6 edge runs like a four year old phone with Lollipop - how is stock even usable?

Basically, the phone is fast when I'm not really using it, and lagging and freezing as heck when it is most depended on.

I have mitigated this by rooting and migrating most of the third party apps from system to user, and freezing other Samsung bloat. But this prevents me from using Android Pay and Samsung Pay.

I have read many threads on memory or multitasking performance issues, but the only stock compatible solution is to use ADB based Package Disabler. This is insufficient unless I also disable Google services, which just gives me a fancy paperweight.

Is my experience not the standard and my device is just defective? I have re-flashed and reset the device more times than I can count and don't see how a hardware defect can cause such software issues.

Basically, the main symptom is that the phone is very slow and even locks up during key times because

1. System apps using more than 1.7 GB ram and less than 300 MB free.

Quote:

I have read that Android caches apps, and this is okay. However, the reality is that Android memory manager is actively killing apps at this stage, and apps are actively being re-cached. The free memory continuously fluctuates between 200-350 MB with active CPU and battery drains like crazy. During this time the device is very slow.

2. Compounding on #1, device struggles with Google Maps navigation + Play Music active.

Quote:

So bad to the point there is often a one or two minute wait to start navigation. I have moved Maps and Android Web View to user space. This keeps System apps memory usage to ~ 1.2 GB, but also means that now Android memory manager will kill Maps when the screen is off because there is not enough ram available.

3. Some may have noticed I have about 1 GB of memory unaccounted for, and that is the other installed apps are using or caching 1 GB of memory.

Quote:

And I do have quite a lot, though not an exorbitant amount. Case in point, my previous Z3 handled the same apps without any hiccups and they have the same amount of RAM. There was also always at least 700 MB of free ram, allowing me to have an active game and Chrome without losing either to the memory manager.

Just upgraded to OH6 5.1.1 (forgoing fingerprint reader without tripped Knox) to see if the issues have been resolved. Unfortunately, the experience is pretty much the same as I had in the beginning.

Is there any way to have a usable device with Android Pay or Samsung Pay?

Screen keeps pulsing even with no notification

I did a Google search for this and couldn't find anything that matched my issue. I thought there was a post on XDA about something similar but nothing came up.

I have 'approach for moto display activated'. I have all other moto activations deactivated.

I have 'wake screen on moto display' activated. I prefer to wave my hand to wake my screen.

I have noticed that when I'm driving, the phone keeps waking the screen. It's like the phone is thinking I'm moving the phone but I thought I had all those options turned off. There isn't anything making movements over the IR sensors.

Am I mistaken when I think the screen should not come on when it senses motion?

[Camera] Tweak thread to make M9`s camera even better :)

First of all, I would like to thank all those guys from "Photos Taken With M9" thread.
HUGE GREAT BIG AWESSOME THANKS go to @starbase64 ; @defcomg ; @hamdir !!!
SO THANK YOU MATES!!!!

Since HTC made a bad software, that compress data from chip and creates jpeg, many of us hoped for something new, something better. With every update we prayed for better noise control. Some prays were heard, some were not. Theese hard times a few heroes, that see thru codes and hacks found a way how to make our photos better. Enough talks, lets go for it!

DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE YOU DO TO YOUR PHONE USING SOME OF THIS HACKS

Build.prop tweaks:
For better noise controling, faster shots etc.. :)

How to: In system folder is build.prop file. Open it (for example) in ES file explorer (you have to check root explorer) and simply add theese lines at the end of it. :)

persist.camera.qcwnr.enabled=0 / this command removes HTC`s color noise reduction.
camera.eis.enable=0 / this command disable electronical image stabilisation
persist.camera.snap.format=1 / this forces subsampling to 2:1 (default is 2:2) , about subsampling : http://www.cerious.com/help8sp1/jpeg_sub_sampling.html
persist.denoise.process.plates=x / REPLACE "X" with 0,1,2,3 where:

Quote:

Y = Luminance Channel
CBCR = Color Channels

0 = CAM_WAVELET_DENOISE_YCBCR_PLANE | Quality Priority Color & Luma
1 = CAM_WAVELET_DENOISE_CBCR_ONLY | Quality Priority Color only
2 = CAM_WAVELET_DENOISE_STREAMLINE_YCBCR | Speed Priority Luna & Color. This is the default profile used BTW
3 = CAM_WAVELET_DENOISE_STREAMLINE_CBCR | Speed Priority Color only.

LONGER EXPOSURE than 2s

This tweak is about getting longer exposure in manual, RAW mode.
I am able to get 4sec long exposure. Some are able to get 4.9.

Its complicated, because it depends on firmware version of your ROM.
But you can do it by your own using HEX editor.

1. You need file /system/lib/hw/camera.msm8994.so
2. In HEX editor find B4 EE E0 8A and change it to F4 EE 60 0A
3. You need also /system/vendor/lib/libmmcamera_t4ka7.so
4. In HEX editor find B4 EE 61 8A and change it to F4 EE 61 1A
5. Save those files in your SDcard. Backup original files. Delete original files from those directories and paste those new. I dont know why, but overwriting didnt worked for me.
6. Find res_ctrl.conf in /system/ETC/
7. Edit it via this quote:

Quote:

M_ISO=1600,800,400,200,100
M_VIDEO=3840x2160,1920x1088,1280x720,960x544,800x4 80,768x432,720x480,640x480,480x320,352x288,320x240 ,176x144

M_SHUTTER_SPEED_MARKER=1/8000,1/1000,1/125,1/15,0.5,2,2.5,3,3.5,4,4.5,4.9

I am attaching modified camera.msm8994.so and libmmcamera_t4ka7.so for ViperOneM9 3.5.0 based on 2.10.401.1.

My camera settings:

Quote:

build.prop:
persist.camera.qcwnr.enabled=0
camera.eis.enable=0
persist.camera.snap.format=1
persist.denoise.process.plates=0
In camera app:
10:7 ratio
big resolution
contrast +0,5
saturation +0,5
sharpeness -2

At the end, I would like to said that this oficial post is under construction and all critics are welcome.
Thank you and have a nice photos :cool:

Can I even root my phone? Or at least install a rooted rom? (I545VRUGOC1 Build)

Ok.. so.. I keep seeing people saying there is a way to root still if you are on GOC1.. but I can't find anything that says what that way is. I also see 5.1 roms for this phone, but nothing that says how to install the bootloader it requires to install them. On my old phone, a Droid X2 you had to root before you could install a bootloader before you could install a rom. I am not seeing any straight up guides on here for working with this S4.

What I really want is just a basic root, so I can uninstall all the hardcoded crapware on this phone (NFL Mobile, Trip Advisor, etc..)

Short of that I want to install CM 12.1, which is probably a better route anyway, but the page for that says you must be on so and so bootloader without telling you how to INSTALL said bootloader. I'm totally lost here, things were a bit more straight forward on that old phone.

Edit: Yeah, I think what I really want to do is install CM 12.1, but I don't even know where to start.
