S4 GTI9505 flashed recovery without root help

So I accidentally flashed the recovery package through Odin to a friend's s4 gt i9505 and i get a no access error in the recovery with an android and a red triangle. Since it has a custom recovery odin doesnt detect it. My question is what should i do ? . There is literally noone that has experienced the same (noob) mistake so there is no real fix. The phone is running 4.4.2 with an official upgrade to lollipop but KNOX was tripped so I would like to fix for him without having to pay for official service.
Thanks in advance.

HOW TO: Unencrypt marshmallow nexus 6 without wiping!

Ok heres the guide!:

Ok so boot into bootloader mode and if your bootloader is not unlocked go and type
Code:
Fastboot oem unlock (This wipes data so you know it!)
. if you are unlocked already no need to do so. so next you go and type:

Code:

fastboot flash bootloader bootloadernamehere.img

and if your already unlocked and you didn't do fastboot oem unlock the bootloader won't erase your data if you flash it. and now do

Code:

Fastboot flash boot bootimagenamehere.img

and now enjoy your unencrypted phone! and you didn't loose anything.

How to flash recovery(CWM) without odin/pc

Hey, i'll describe my problem. I wanted to flash a custom rom, i copied ROM and gapps, whatever, i went to TWRP screen, deleted SYSTEM, just to be sure everything is ok, cause i was having aurora and i tought there might be some problem with compatibility. But SURPRISE, twrp decided to give me stupid errors, i downloaded 5 more ROMs just to make my phone working again. THE ERROR SHOWN WAS : "Error executing updater binary in zip "(I was able to flash gapps.zip without errors though) . I can't believe this, what should have been 10 minutes became 5 hours.

THE FACT is that i can't connect my phone to pc in any way, it's not recognized by odin in download mode( maybe because usb debugging off, but i also had recognizing problem with it, it's because charging port most probably, but i'm not going to change it now ), because i only want to flash CWM now to be able to flash ROM.

SO, im asking you to help me flash CWM using TWRP, to flash it like ZIP, i wonder if it's possible. FAST REPLY, please, i want to use my phone soon.

INVALID/00 [re-write] IMEI without any backup

As there's no solutions yet for the problems above hope you guys or some devs. can help/produce some solutions.. more specific situations:
1. you never backup the imei numbers
2. device totally bricked (fatal error/failed while flashing fastboot rom).
3. device fall into qhsusb_bulk, which no fastboot or recovery access..
4. bring it back to live with testpoint process(hardware) jtag likes on other devices.
5. its back to live with known baseband, esn but the 00/invalid imei.

what to achieves :
1. find ways to bring back its default imei numbers.

ive do some research and ive start a thread on miui forums too
you can see it here http://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=vie...66001&mobile=2
some people does have this problems too.

The Experiment: Android without Google

Hey folks,

after reading the Article on xda about using Android without google, i instantly fell in Love with the idea. I decided yesterday, that i'll take the plunge and give it a try.

First off, why?
For me, there are a couple of reasons. First of, i generally think, the less a company like google knows about me, the better. So keeping the Data on my phone away from google might help with that. If this experiment goes well i might stop using Google for Calendar and Contacts.
Second reason for me is Battery. The Google Framework and Play Services are always on the Top of my list of Battery consumption. I'd like to see how leaving these away might improve Battery life.
And third, i'm curious if it's possible. The reason i'm on xda is because i'm a tinkerer. So pushing the boundaries and trying new things is what i really like about Android. You have the choice to do whatever you want with your phone.

So, how do i go about it? Well, a bit of pre work needs to be done. First of, you might need a google Account to set things up. WhatsApp or Outlook are simply only available from the official Playstore. Since i start with my daily driver, all was set up already.

I use the 5.0.1 Variant of Nameless Rom. Debloated, Nova Launcher, rooted and stock apart from that. I might go CM later on, but i always find CM draining the Battery more then Stock Roms. We'll see.

What am i going to use instead of all the nice google things?

Play Store:
I'll give F-Droid a try. it's obtainable as an apk, so if you only need apps that are available there, you won't need google at all. The Interface and search is not as nice as the Play Store, but the selection is really good, Installation of apps is hassle free (no manually downloading apks and installing them by hand) and it does check for updates daily.

Gmail:
I already moved away from gmail to outlook.com a few months ago. Not because MS is better in keeping your data private (actually they might be as they make money through selling software, not your data) but because i wanted to spread my info. Mail on outlook, contacts on google, Calendar on Strato... The Outlook app was already installed and set up, so no work to be done here.

Contacts:
Here it's getting a bit tricky. Google doesn't want you to move your contacts away form them. So there is no way to directly sync your google Contacts to your phone. As soon as you deactivate the play services, all you contacts will be gone.
For me, i used the Web Version of Google Contacts, exported them all to vcf and imported them to my phones storage. I'm not going to set up a personal sync for now. I'm fine with my contacts on my Phone only for now. I might end up going the OwnCloud route later on, but don't find it necessary currently.

Calendar:
my Calendar is already done through outlook and start (my webhoster). I installed Etar from F-Droid (a open source variant of googles calendar app). All my Calendars were already in on first launch (imported from the phones Accounts). No hassle, everything looks as always.

Chrome:
I've never been happy with chrome anyways. Loading pages is slow, scrolling is nowhere near smooth. I currently compare Firefox and Fenec. Both from F-Droid. Firefox will be discontinued on F-Droid soon as they implemented none OS proprietary add ons. Fenec is a OS alternative to Firefox compiled from Source without Proprietary add ons. Both work well but Fenec is a bit unstable as a daily driver for most people.

Camera is Focal now. Apart from being OS it's also much more capable than samsung camera. Plus easier to use. Whats not to like here?

After setting everything up, i went into the settings and disabled most google stuff (Play Store, Play Services, Calendar, Mail, Chrome). I'm still trying to find out what other Google Services i may disable without braking android. I'll keep this updated here.

I'm not completely done yet. I still use apps that are only available through the Playstore. Maybe you know alternatives, that i should check out:

WhatsApp. I don't see an alternative here. Moving to another service is not really an option. I tried Telegram and liked it, but a nice app is nothing when nobody uses it...
Ebay and Amazon. Both have a good mobile website which should work. But a standalone App is much easier and convenient to use.
Nova Launcher. It's simply the best. I haven't found a OS alternative that has anywhere near the features.
Tapatalk. Again, one App all Forums on hand. Simply the best app for that. Any XDA compatible OS alternatives to it?
Outlook. A OS mail client which supports Outlook, Material Design and is easy to use? I've yet to come up with one...

Over all, the switch went really smooth. After getting F-Droid as a Playstore alternative i was able to do all this in 1 hour. I'll have to see how Batterylife works out. I feel it's better, but the numbers will tell after some days of use. I feel really good to have found a way around google so far. It's nice to rethink things you've been using for years. Even if you're not opting out of google completely, there might be a alternative to something you use, that you'd otherwise never consider.

Let me know what you think. You're alternatives to some proprietary apps. How do you feel about google being in all the parts of your mobile life? Is Android without google something you'd consider?

Have a nice start into the week.

Any way to rerun the setupwizard on my Nexus 6 without wiping data?

Long story short I was having issues running backup in TWRP. I was getting a E: createTarFork() process ended with ERROR=255

So I decided to risk a dirty flash and lost all my configuration and some of my apps. Yes, I made a mistake.

What I want to do is have the option that is available when I first setup the device to run an old backup from Googles servers. How do I do this?

How can you guys survive without an SD slot (Especially Nexus users) ?

Hi,

Just wanted to discuss, as I'm curious about the opinion of people here, especially those (But not limited to) who are getting an Nexus phone which has obviously no SD card slot;

Had an Optimus One from 2011 to 2014 as my first phone and then switched to Galaxy S4. Sometimes I thought maybe I could have gotten a Nexus, or not sure, maybe a Nexus could be my next phone, or even a Sony (I like my S4. But when I got it, I didn't knew about KNOX haha. I'd rather not support Samsung in the long run with their KNOX flag I guess).

The lack of an SD card slot always drove me away from Nexus phones (Except Nexus One, which I did considered long ago), although it's true that Nexus phones look pretty amazing. How did you guys (Not limited to Nexus) chose a Nexus, not fearing that you might end up lacking storage at some point? I used to store Dreamcast ROMs in my SD card, and played around with Dolphin emulator for a while, these are quite huge files, and if you put movies in the phone too haha, space can run out pretty quick.

I have the 16GB variant of the S4 along with a 32GB microSD card (External SD close to full. Might upgrade to 64 eventually) - My 32GB card is close to full, so obviously a 32GB phone with no SD is a big no-no. 64GB would be the bare minimum, considered that storage space would be splitted between the user data (/Data/Media) and the /Data partition itself for app storage, also not forgetting the /System partition, I might even get tight on storage on a 64GB phone. So the wisest choice would be to get a 128GB version which is costly anyway.

I discussed about my point/needs myself, altough I'm especially curious, while I will have to say goodbye to SD cards slot at some point anyway, some people here did chose recent phones with lack of SD support without any fear of lacking storage (Which unfortunately drive me away from Nexus, but might consider a 128GB variant).

How is the lack of an SD card slot not a deal-breaker to you, and worth all the other features, guys?
Thank you for reading.

How to backup everything without Rooting?

I always used Titanium Backup and just realized it requires a rooted phone, which means it will not work on Verizon Note 5 because it cannot be rooted (yet). How do I backup all my apps and settings then? I do use Google Account Backup feature, but I only have a 6GB plan, so I don't want to waste precious data on re-downloading all my Apps if anything goes wrong.
