[GUIDE] How To Port FIUI to Any Device

Hello everyone! :cowboy: :D

I'm here again to put togethera detailed guide on "How To Port FIUI", which is a ROM that's improving each day with an iOS-based interface and CM11-based system.

FIUI (Future Interactive UI)

Quote:

FIUI is a Chinese ROM based off of CyanogenMod. The Future Interface UI is made by the AZ Fuga Team!
FIUI's concept is simple: Remove redundant features that bloat up the system, maximize functionality, all the while maintaining a gorgeous UI!

Quote:

This guide is applicable to any device and FIUI version.

Having said that, let's start!

1. Understanding Porting:

Quote:

What you'll need:
  1. WinRAR

  2. Notepad++ (recommended; wordpad is ok)

  3. Basic knowledge about copy-paste ;)

First of all, you need to know some concepts:

Quote:

Base ROM:

The ROM which is developed for your device. Important: due to FIUI is CM11 based, you could only use CyanogenMod 11 as base ROM.

Quote:

Port ROM:

The ROM which you want to port to your device. In this case: FIUI (Doesn't matter for which device is made)

Once we've learnt that. Let's prepare everything to start working.

2. Setting Up the Environment:

Time to organize files and folders before start porting. :highfive:

Quote:

Step 1:

Create to different folders in your favourite directory:
  • CM11 (Base ROM)

  • FIUI (Port ROM)

Quote:

Step 2:

Take any CM11 which is running on your device and extract it WinRAR. Copy it content in CM11 folder.

Then, do the same with FIUI ROM, pasting it content in FIUI folder.

Having done that, you're prepared to port!

3. Porting the ROM:

Here's the "difficult" part of this guide.

Quote:

Firstly, delete those folders of Base ROM
  • system/app

  • system/media

  • system/priv-app

And replace them with "App", "Media" and "Priv-app" folders from Port ROM (FIUI)

Quote:

In FIUI, go to system/etc/permissions folder and look for com.htc.software.market.xml. If it's available, copy it to system/etc/permissions folder of CM11

Do the same procedure with libAppDataSearch.so, which should be located in system/lib folder of FIUI.

*Remember: it doesn't matter if you don't find those files on FIUI ROM*

Quote:

From FIUI, copy "su" file, located at system/xbin. Paste it in system/xbin folder of CM11 and replace it.

Quote:

In CM and FIUI, open framework-res.apk (located at system/framework) with WinRAR, and navigate to the res/xml folder (in both files).

Now, move those files directly from CM11 framework-res.apk into FIUI framework-res.apk :
  • eri.xml

  • storage_list.xml

  • apn.xml

  • power-profile.xml

One you've done that, copy system/framework folder from FIUI and paste it into CM11 folder. Attention: choose combine content, and replace when asked.

Quote:

Open build.prop of CM11 folder with Notepad++. Paste this code at the bottom of the file:

Code:

#fiui build
fiui.ver.name=beta_x.xx.
fiui.ver=1
fiui.navbar=0
fiui.traffic=1

Change the values according to the FIUI version that you're porting. ;)

After that, you've finished the hard work.

4. Repacking the ROM:

Quote:

Finally, go to CM11 folder and select all the content (Meta-INF, boot.img, system, etcetera) and zip them using WinRAR. Now flash it and enjoy a Future Interactive UI :highfive:

Done. You've ported FIUI to your device!

Quote:

Press thanks if I help you ;)

Code:

Don't copy my work without my permission.

Quote:

I'll be adding screenshots of the procedure for noobs :)

HTC HD2 T-mobile starter guide?

Hi, I'm new to this forum, as i've just got an old hd2, and start to play around with it.
Now i know all the "search before asking" stuffs, but the problem is that: my hd2 is now on android (4.4.4, cm version: 11.0-M9-leo), and the some parts of phone has been replaced that even the imei on the backside and in the firmware doesnt match, and on the phone there is no tmobile logo at all.
I want to put it back to wm6.5, and to learn to install android all over again, but as i read about hd2 someone say that flash normal wm fw on a tmus hd2 would brick the phone
I want to ask: how to clearly verify what version of hd2 i'm using now, and with that in mind maybe going back to wm would be easier :)
And also my reset button is not red, so maybe it tmus then, but i wanna know for sure since it involved bricking risk

I want name guide or link guide add ram on statusbar! please!

I cant guide add ram on stt3.

Battery guide for Marshmallow

I installed Marshmallow a couple of days back. With features like Doze I expected better battery life with the stock experience (I previously had Xposed with Amplify Pro and Greenify Donate along with Power Nap, so I used to lose about 2℅ battery overnight.) However I lost 20℅ battery overnight. These are some tweaks I applied and last night I didn't even lose a single per cent overnight.

1. Use Greenify, it works even better on Marshmallow. It compliments Doze which kicks in only after an hour of the phone being stationery. (Search for the Greenify post on Doze in Google Plus)
2. Head over to the Apps tab and press the gear icon on top. Then proceed to disable unnecesaary App Permissions. You will be amazed how appls like Hotstar use body sensors which is totally not needed.
3. Enable Developer Options and head over to the tab called inactive Apps. Toggle Apps you rarely use.
And that's it! Let me know how it goes for you along with how much standby time you gained.

[GUIDE] Viper4android working with tunein

Hi,
I've seen many people asking on how to make it work and I've been using this method for few years and it has never failed me.

Please remember to backup your ROM before doing any changes, there is a high risk that it may not work on lollipop (and sometimes on lower versions).

So what you need to do:
1) For Kitkat users (and lower) just flash this mod:
https://app.box.com/s/ntw15vccmlxxbznma8ka

I think that it's just some old version of eXtremeBeats audio mod (downloaded few ears ago, so can't remember), so all the credits go to Ben Feutrill.
I just modified the zip a bit, because the normal one caused on Galaxy S4 that the microphone didn't work during the call.

2) Lollipop users.
Here it get's harder....
Flashing the package mentioned in point 1) caused an audioFX FC on all CM12.1 (and maybe CM12) ROMS for me.
However it does work just fine with Sony's 5.0.2 ROMs.

But don't flash it on Sony's stock 5.1.1 as it will cause microphone problems during the call.
So what you have to do (except the standard operation of installing Viper on lollipop) is to install this mod: Extreme Beats v4.
Now the most important thing is to flash this file: https://app.box.com/s/9bkhjmtqlex8stodotcfms7nho533jfg.

I did some calling tests and the person on the other side was able to hear me, so it should be working fine, however some feedback would be nice, as I don't use lollipop myself.
Btw. You can try just to install the second file (without the Extreme Beats audio mod), but idk. if it will work.

FYI: I did test "audio mod.zip" on many devices, but only until android 4.4.x. All the tests performed with lollipop were done only on sony device, so I don't know how it will work on different phones.
If you can, please leave the feedback for the others.

I hope this thread will help many people to enjoy Viper experience with this great music app.

[GUIDE] How to spot a FAKE Mi Note Pro

Clones of famous smartphones are quite popular both in China and other parts of the world. So, it was not surprising to see Xiaomi Mi Note clones come up online via websites like Taobao. The clone looks so identical to the original model that its very hard to distinguish between the two just by looking at the two devices.

However, we are here to tell you how you can spot the fake Xiaomi Mi Note from the real one. So, anyone who is planning to buy a Mi Note make sure to note the points given below.

What to check when buying a new Xiaomi Mi Note?

1.First of all, check the build quality of the device. Although design wise, a fake one will look like the real one, the quality of workmanship is poorer in the fake Xiaomi Mi Note, so if you feel something is not at its right place, then its very likely that you are looking at a fake one.

2. The recent Xiaomi Mi Note clones that have come up for sale are made out of plastic. On the other hand, the real Xiaomi Mi Note is made from solid glass. As a result, if the device feels like its made out of cheap plastic, then you’ve got the fake one in your hands. Return it immediately!

These were the things that helped you identify the device even before starting up the device. Now, lets look at what you can check after booting it up.

3. If you have been unsuccessful in spotting a clone by now, don’t worry. There are several things that you can check once the device has booted up to ensure that your Mi Note is real. Firstly, the cheap Mi Note clones have a blue tint on the display. This is due to the cheap display panel used inside the device. On the other hand, the original Mi Note’s display looks quite crisp and balanced. Also, the resolution will be too low for a device as good as a flagship device.

4. The next thing you can do is run some tests. Most benchmark tests will instantly reveal the actual performance of the device. The scores will be much lower than Xiaomi Mi Note’s 46000+ scores. Expect the clones to score about 18000 points, thanks to the modest 1GB RAM and MT6582 (probably) SoC inside. This is a sure indicator that your Mi Note is a fake, and you should instantly replace it or avoid purchasing it.

As you can see, once you boot up the device and run some tests, its quite easy to identify the fake one from a real Xiaomi Mi Note. Don’t just go by the design and the built, looks can be deceiving. So, its always better to go for trusted resellers while purchasing a new smartphone.

[GUIDE] Fix No Network Signal Error in Mi Note/Pro

Hello Mi Note/Pro Users,

Today I'm here to solve the problem of No network signal error in your Mi Note/Pro by giving you a simple tutorial that you can do it yourself easily. Note: This tutorial can be used for both Mi Note/Pro.The steps are same, but make sure you use the correct file for your device.

For this tutorial we need some things, so let's get the things ready before starting the tutorial
  1. We need Mi Flash Tool. So Download MIUI Rom Flashing Tool and install it in your computer.

  2. Download the Modem file for your device: For Mi Note: Click here. For Mi Note Pro: Click here. The zip that you downloaded needs to be extracted to get the modem file. The modem file that you get after extracting the zip file would be named like this NON-HLOS.bin

Now let's get started.
  1. Turn off your phone and enter your phone into fastboot mode. (For entering into fastboot mode, Press volume - and Power button together until you see the fastboot image on your phone.

  2. After entering the phone into fastboot mode, Connect your phone to the computer.

  3. Since you have installed MIUI Flashing tool, go the Android folder of the MIUI ROM Flashing tool, ie C:\Program Files (x86)\Xiaomi\MiPhone\Google\Android. MIUI ROM Flashing tool will be installed to the above location by default.

  4. Copy and Paste the modem file (NON-HLOS.bin) to the folder mentioned in the above step. Some times your pc will ask to provide administrator permission to paste the modem file to the above mentioned folder like this:

  5. Press continue and the file will be copied and pasted to the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Xiaomi\MiPhone\Google\Android.

  6. Hold down the left Shift key on your keyboard and right click inside this folder and then select Open command window here.
This will launch the command prompt screen like this.

  7. Type the command fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin and press the Enter key to flash the modem like the one in the screenshot below. The screenshot below is actually of the Redmi 2 phone, so for Mi Note/Pro it will be slightly different. The modem will be flashed successfully and type in fastboot reboot to reboot your phone.

  8. Your network should be back after that. Enjoy.

Special thanks to @Technoking2020
The modem files for this tutorial of MI Note/Pro are extracted from the fastboot developer rom of the respective devices.
