[FIX] Fingerprint doesn't register after TWRP restore

Hello everyone. I have figured out how to remove registered fingerprints without having to factory reset your device. So, when you create a backup and forget to delete them, you're not SOL when you restore.

Flash this file in recovery and you should be good.

What does it do? Simple, it removes /data/validity/template.db

NOTE: If you have your lock screen set up for fingerprints, this will not reset the lock screen. Upon boot, it will still think you're set up to unlock with fingerprints. You can simply use your backup password to get into your phone then go into settings and set up your fingerprints again. OR if you want, you can remove locksettings.db, locksettings.db-shm, and locksettings.db-wal from /data/system/ while in recovery.

Where is the "Thanks" button (I'm not joking, it doesn't show up for me much at all)

You can see from my profile that I've been a member for a long time. I'm not very social, so I don't troll the threads much, just use what I need for the device in hand. I always appreciate what others have put out and I do like to show my appreciation, but I've noticed over a few years (there's gaps between my site use), that I for a large part, can't "Thank" the OPs. If there is a write up or tutorial link someone can point me to, then please do. I did try to search the entirety of XDA, but you might imagine searching for "Thanks" and the like will primarily pull up a lot of posts asking about Thanks..

I should say I DO know where the button "should" be, but it's just not there on a lot of the OPs I look at.

Thanks in advanced for you help.

Pure MRA58K - Play Store doesn't list installed Apps

I have several brand new 16gb 2013 Nexus 7s that I need to set up for a project at work. I created a new Google account and updated both to Marshmallow according to the instructions here:
https://developers.google.com/androi...s/images?hl=en

I've done two so far and both are exhibiting the same strange behavior. The Play Store isn't listing the installed apps or automatically updating them. Under My Apps, both INSTALLED and ALL are completely empty.

Things I've tried:
  • Clearing Storage On Play Store

  • Reboot

  • Factory Wipe

  • I searched for gmail and found that it needed an update. I manually installed the update and now it's in the list.

  • Made a second new Google Account

I added new user and set up my personal Google Account in the device and it recognized all of the system and immediately started updating them.

I don't want to have to install my personal account on all of these tablets. Do anyone have any idea what could be wrong with my new Google accounts and how I could fix them?

S3 NEO GT 9300I "Process System stopped", camera and features doesn't work.

Hi

Just brought my S3 NEO a month ago. Rooted the phone in the first day using TWRP and ODIN.
Everything was running fine until yesterday. I was getting this error "Process System stopped" and a lot of apps such messenger and whatsapp were stuck.
My boot time increased too.

I've already tried to unroot, did a complete reset, flashed the stock ROM.
Right now the download mode indicates that the ROM is Samsung Official, and the KNOX is 0x0.

What should I try?

i9070 broken lcd + after working with adb shell doesnt boot (nosound) ..

Hey xda-community,

might be a long text to read but i want to make it as detailed as possible :/.

I have an i9070 with broken lsd (+touch not working) and pattern lock.
To acces to the internal storage i hat to delete the pattern lock.
So first of all i booted into recoverymode (TWRP) and removed the pattern lock via adb shell ("rm /data/system/gesture.key").
After a reboot i was able to acces to the internal storage with my PC , finally.

But then i had the genious idea to use Droid@Screen...
Since i hadn't USB Debugging activated i tried to activate it with the adb.
I searched in the www, found something and tried it right away.
The 1st step was "adb pull /system/build.prop build.prop"
Then edit the build.prop and add the line "persist.service.adb.enable=1"
and after that i had to push ot back, but i couln't.
So i searched again in the www and found a way to mount /system ..... (prob for the false device ,_, )

The commands where:
mount -o rw,remount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p8 /system
and
mount -o ro,remount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p8 /system

so i tried the 1st command and forgot the 4 after ext, so i typed it in the adb shell like:
# mount -o rw,remount -t ext /dev/block/mmcblk0p8 /system
and after that
# mount -o rw,remount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p8 /system

after that i was able to push the build.prob back, and i used
# mount -o ro,remount -t ext /dev/block/mmcblk0p8 /system
and
# mount -o ro,remount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p8 /system

afterwards.
After a reboot it kind of stuck while booting :/ (since i cant see anything i didnt heard the sound while booting).
So i tried the push back the original build.prop without the extra line.
Still not booting..

I ended trying all commands without any order:
# mount -o ro,remount -t ext /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 /system
# mount -o rw,remount -t ext /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 /system
# mount -o ro,remount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 /system
# mount -o rw,remount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p3 /system
# mount -o ro,remount -t ext /dev/block/mmcblk0p8 /system
# mount -o rw,remount -t ext /dev/block/mmcblk0p8 /system
# mount -o ro,remount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p8 /system
# mount -o rw,remount -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p8 /system
chmod 755 system
chmod 777 system
sync

i used also mount..../mmcblk0p3 instead of mmcblk0p8 because after using "mount" it showed behind the /system mmcblk0p3 ...
i think i messed too much around as a newbie :crying:
I am still able to use adb in recovery mode but cant acces the internal storage.

Would be nice if someone could help me :)
Ty if you read the whole text .. ^^

No fastboot, No recovery, No adb and LG Flash Tool also doesn't work!

Ok I've been spending my Saturday on this for 9 hours straight now. Damn!
It started with trying to clean install resurrection remix rom (I had lollipop RR but I wanted to clean install a new version). I went full retard and deleted everything then I had nothing to flash and I couldn't connect to device with adb from windows 10.
I went to linux and I could use adb there. I booted into recovery (TWRP 2.7) and sideloaded new RR rom. It started to work!
Then I went beyond full retarded and tried to upgrade the TWRP itself to 2.8.6 and I tried different things that didn't work except one that was an app that took care of it but then it could not boot normally.
I did some more idiotic things til I ended up with a brick that the only way I could feel some communication with it (!) was with Download mode (press vol +) in DemiGod Crash Handler and LG flash tools!
Nothing else works (no adb, no fastboot, no recovery). It gives secure booting error (boot certificate verify) when it tries to boot (or into recovery) and gives Critical Error that I can either reboot or go to Dload mode!
By the way from the beginning I couldn't use fastboot!
also LG flash tools give model information check fail error!
I remember some weird stuff like using dd to copy some image partitions (I didn't have fastboot). I also remember doing rm -rf * somewhere =)) and a lot of playing around with TWRP!
I would really appreciate some help getting out of this mess!

SIM doesn't work

Hello everyone.
I've a big problem with my motorola moto g 4g.

I've changed my phone and i bought a motorola moto x play (with nano-sim).
So, i decide to give my phone (motorola moto g 4g) to my brother, but his SIM doesn't work.
I've changed the SIM with portability of number but still doesn't work!
I tried to use and active SIM with another phone and with that device (LG L9) the sim work.
I tried to do an hard reset by recovery, i tried to do a reflash of lollipop rom that i used on my moto g lte with his radio module, i tried to reflash original kit kat ROM but still doesn't work.
SO, i think my RADIO module is broke. But if i use my SIM with a nano adapter to micro-sim in the motorola moto g, it work! I'm confused. My SIM work, my brother's sim no.
What can i do?

[Problem] Note 5 doesn't want to connect to any type of N network...

Hi,

For some reason my Note5 won't connect to *any* N network. 2.4 Ghz or 5 Ghz doesn't seem to make a difference nor open or encryption, simply won't connect.

The following was in logcat. Not sure what status_code=18, a google around didn't reveal anything. Tried various kernels without success. Galaxy S6, Macbook connect just fine. You can force your router into N only mode to test.

Why doesn't Mobile ODIN work on my i815?

I've been trying to use Mobile ODIN Pro on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 (SCH-I815). I downloaded it from the Google Play store, but all I ever get is "device not recognized" and the option to create a log that might take 30 minutes. When I do create the log, it sits and spins and finally exits the app on its own. If I go back into Mobile ODIN, it does the same thing over again. I thought it might be my ROM, so I upgraded from rooted stock LP11 to CM12.1. Same results. Mobile ODIN Pro does the same thing.

Anyone know how to get Mobile ODIN Pro to work properly?

Nexus 6 doesn't work without a power source.

So ever since I updated my phone to 5.1.1 the phone doesn't work without power connected to it. When I try turn it on it just shuts back off when the google logo comes up. It only stays on if it's connected to a charger.

Today I manually flashed 6.0 and the problem is still there.

5.0 and 5.0.1 was completely fine, then 5.1 came out with this issue.

I've tried recovery mode then holding down the power button on bootloader logs and that doesn't work. It also happens in safe mode, just turns off without a power source connected to it.

Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

My Xperia Z Ultra Screen dpi setting change doesn't stick after reboot

I flashed the rooted 5.1.1 firmware, and the developer made the dpi really small so that it looks like a tablet. However, I want everything to be bigger. I want to change from 320 to 400. I tried Dpi changer app on play store, and also tried build prop editor app to change manually, but after rebooting, the setting doesn't stick. It's back to 320.

Could someone please let me know why this is happening? Any idea how I can change to 400?

Thank you so much!

Settings app doesn't open when 4G sim inserted

I have an LG G2 D802. Running CM11 Snapshot M12.
My old sim card is 3G only and it works very fine on my phone. I purchased a 4G enabled sim card yesterday and inserted it into my phone. After the boot was complete, there was no network. I opened settings app but it won't open. The settings screen came up, flashed once and disappeared again. I wasn't able to use the notification drawer toggles either. Everything else on the phone was working fine. So now I removed the new sim, put back my old sim and voila, the phone was good as new again. I thought that the sim might be defective. But that's not the case. I put the sim on my friend's Nexus 5 and it worked perfectly fine. What could this issue be? Any help would be appreciated.
