[Q&A] How do I change the apps listed in Extended Power Saver mode?

Hi all,

As the title says, I'm looking to change the apps available from the Extended Power Saver mode screen. This came about as I use a different SMS app rather than the HTC default. My prefrence would be to be able to change the app name/icon and where the tile points to - however I will accept if I can point the "Messages" tile with the HTC icon to a different program.

Any help appreciated!

Sony XPERIA Z5 power button problem

I just have Sony XPERIA Z5 to test and it look like that there is big problem with power off button in some of this phone. My phone is completely new, never in water, never use. But power off button don't want correct, as you can see on video. When i look on that button, it doesn't fit perfect, it can be moved about one millimeter and that is problem. I really don't like to see this on the start. Do you have same issue?

LG urbane, power stuck at 2%

So today i went out and bought a lg urbane smart watch.

Initially when i unpacked it, the battery showed 100%, dropping to 94% after I've been playing around with it for an hour maybe.
Then all of a sudden, the screen went black and i couldn't get it to power on.
I then put it in the charger, an after 1 hour and 20 minutes, it got to 2% :S
i figured it might be confused, due to not having run a full battery cycle yet, so i took the watch from the charger, and went to the movies.
Now the watch have been going for 4 hours on 2% battery (still going), so i thought i would do a factory reset to fix the problem.

But now the real problem appeared! The watch still thinks it got 2% power, which means i cannot pair it to my phone (less than 20%) and charging makes no difference at all :S

Will i have to bring the watch back, or is there a fix?

Edit: sorry i accidentally made this in the wrong section

Power on not working

I have the following problem: Out of a sudden my volume and power button stopped working. I could still wake it up with the camera button for 2 tries but after trying a couple of things (long press, combinations etc.) the phone went off at some point. Now I'm not able to turn it back on again.
When I plug in the charger, the phone shows the charging screen. I can press Power+VolUp and get vibrations and a restart (to charging screen) but nothing else.
When I plug it into the computer it boots into fastboot. I'm able to submit commands via fastboot but no response via adb. (I found a tip issuing 'adb shell input keyevent 26' but adb does not find the device) using the various reboot options (continue, reboot, reboot-bootloader) only gets me into fastboot again or charging screen.

How can I get my phone back to work preferably without loosing any data? I still have some important stuff on the internal memory and would like to back it up. So reboot into recovery and backup via adb would also be ok, but I can't get into the recovery.

Infos:
- Phone is rooted via http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-c...-keys-t3013343 running '23.4.A.1.232 - Unbranded - CE1 [Central Europe] (1288-7915)' after an update. (older version with root installed via instructions, update self-rooted (via PRFC) and installed 1 month later)
- VolUp+Power in charger only gets back to charging. No change
- VolUp and/or VolDown then plug to PC only gets to fastboot
- Reset switch does nothing at all

Moto G XT1031 Won't Power, Detected as QHSUSB__BULK - Problem attempting recovery

The phone (XT1031, 16GB, Republic Wireless, 4.4.4) is low use and nothing different was done the day it developed the problem. It worked Monday, on Wednesday it flashed indicator and the screen wouldn't power. It was hard-powered off (held power) and it wouldn't turn on again. The computer does not detect it. I have installed the 64-bit driver for my Windows 7 and am attempting to 'blank-flash' without success. Can anyone assist? Attached is the log. Thanks in advance.

Am I calculating this right? 25600mAh Power bank Capacity test

Hi,

I have recently bought a Li-Polymer power bank which has a rated capacity of 25600 mAh @ 3.7V or 94720mWh. Now, I have been testing this power bank using a 1A and 2A load. Here are the readings I got whilst charging and discharging the power bank.:

All readings are at 5V. The powerbank was charged at 2A and discharged at 2A or 1A USB resistor load.

and this was used to record mAh

Here's the readings:
Charge: 24897mAh
Discharge: 16985mAh @ 2a discharge

Charge: 24814mAh
Discharge: 15020mAh @ 2a discharge

Charge: 24787mAh
Discharge= 16759 @ 1a discharge

Charge: 24750mAh
Discharge = Yet to do

Lets take example 1 from the list above:
Charge
24897 x 5 = 124485mWh
There was a conversion from 5V input to 3.7 output, with an efficiency of 80%
124485 x 0.8 = 99588mWh
So 99588mWh or 26915mAh @ 3.7V should be the power bank capacity

Discharge using 2A load
16985 x 5 = 84925mWh
84925 is the capacity after efficiency loss (20%) from the circuit. So power output before conversion and loss will be:
84925 x 1.2 = 101910mWh
101910 or 27543 @3.7V

So the power bank's capacity in the above example is around 27000mAh. Just wanted to make sure that my calculations were ok.

Z3 D6633 does not power on!!

Hello guys! I'm getting desperate crazy. I tried to install the MIUI V7 in my Z3 D6633 and as expected, failed. My Z3 was no operating system and then I use the FlashTool to recover the original system. But to try to put the Z3 in Flashmode holding the volume down and connecting the smartphone to PC , but, i unintentionally just sliding the finger and squeezing together the volume key up , my Z3 deleted and not turn over . I've tried numerous combinations of keys and actions but nothing makes the phone to call (even if it gets into an infinite loop ) even among the Flashmode or Fastboot mode. Can anyone save me please?? It would not be nice to have to leave it in the authorized .

Nexus 6 doesn't work without a power source.

So ever since I updated my phone to 5.1.1 the phone doesn't work without power connected to it. When I try turn it on it just shuts back off when the google logo comes up. It only stays on if it's connected to a charger.

Today I manually flashed 6.0 and the problem is still there.

5.0 and 5.0.1 was completely fine, then 5.1 came out with this issue.

I've tried recovery mode then holding down the power button on bootloader logs and that doesn't work. It also happens in safe mode, just turns off without a power source connected to it.

Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

[Q] Low Power Battery State Sensing

Hi, I'm looking for a very low resource way of measuring power draw over a time interval. I'm looking to measure the power draw as various pictures and videos are displayed on the screen to get an idea of how much power the various components of the phone draw. I've done some looking and I've found this: http://developer.android.com/referen...ryManager.html. Particularly, I noticed Charge_Counter, Current_Average, and Energy_Counter. My issue is that while I have a bit of a programming background (more like a hobby), I have no idea where to start with this. I have some background in Python, Labview, linux scripting, and very little C and .NET, so I understand some of the basic concepts of programming, but anything beyond that is something I would have to pick up. I have virtually no experience in Android programming (other than a few Cyanogenmod compiles from source - as anyone who has been around long enough has :D ).

I wouldn't need a gui for this, so something like a script would work great. It can (maybe should) be able to be executed via ADB, and needs to be universal - working across modern devices. The app/script I'm envisioning would perhaps poll the battery for a power level, wait a specified time - 2 min, 5 min, 10 min, 1 hour, something like that - then poll it a second time, get the delta, and divide by time to get an average power. Other than those two polls, I would want the app/script to have no interactions with the processor. The greater the accuracy, the better, and if no root is possible, that would be my choice. I would prefer to keep the phones as stock as possible.

My questions are:
- Is something absolutely universal (or mostly universal among newer devices - say 1 yr old or less) possible (no root)?
- Since it needs to be universal, would Java be a good choice of programming language? Or perhaps this can be accessed via the command line (script)?
- How accurate would a method like this be? How do the phones know the instantaneous current, power level, etc? Is it basically a shunt resistor, measuring the V across?
- How much time would it take (generally) for a noob with no Android experience to get a working demo? Days, weeks, months?

Thank you for your time.

Anyone else have a sticky power button?

Seems if I don't press it for a while, it is kind of "crunchy" at first press but is fine when pressing it again repeatedly. It doesn't get stuck when depressed, but more like its a little stuck before pressing and is kinda rough that first initial push. Kinda hard to explain. Not a huge issue. Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this.

Band frequency and power consumption question

Hi.

I was wondering if the frequency used by a given carrier or even the carrier itself can have an impact in power consumption. I ask because I changed carriers a few months ago and I noticed a considerable decrease in battery life soon after.

Whenever I'm on mobile data, the device can draw up to 8%/h (I'm using Battery Monitor Widget for this) from the battery when idle for several minutes, until it eventually drops to 1%/h or less if left completely untouched during that time. If I use the phone, even briefly, and put it down, it'll start and stay using 3-8%/h again when idle. This doesn't happen at all when I'm on WiFi.

My old carrier used the 1900 Mhz frequency band for 3G (850 for GSM) and the new carrier uses the 900 Mhz band for both 2G and 3G. If I keep my phone in 2G only , the drain is not so bad (could be maybe 1 or 2%/h, still rather high, but not something I'd worry about), but on 3G it goes crazy. I know that signal strength can have an impact in power consumption because the radio is constantly scanning or trying to connect to a poor signal, but this happens everywhere, good or bad reception.

Won't power on

Don't know if anyone has ever had this problem?

Removed the battery from the phone and then replaced it after removing the sim card now the phone won't power up or be recognised by a pc on the cable.

The battery is in the correct way and the battery is fully charged as I have the extra battery pack.

Power saver ON vs. Power saver OFF on HTC One M8

Hi. Im using an HTC One M8 Internation Version clocked at 2.5ghz

This thread is to know if current users of the M8 toggles the power saver ON by default or OFF and do not use it at all.

This thread aims to discuss what are the difference between the two especially the options within the power saver (conserve cpu usage, lower brightness, vibration feedback, and sleep mode)

But as for some using Greenify + Amplify, this power saver might not be needed anymore. What I am concerned now is the "conserve cpu usage" function of the power saver. Does it greatly affect the battery life when the screen is ON? Using max power all the time does affect our SOT?

Thanks for responses in advance. Good day!

Loose Power Button in HTC One M8 Eye

Hi Guy,

I bought a HTC M8 Eye phone recently, all good but the power button, its too loose.
Does anyone facing the same issue with M8\M8 Eye?
