Horrible battery life

Hello,
I have had my G3 D851 since it launched. The battery life was always on the short side but not so short I couldn't use the phone. I went to Lolipop and started noticing these issues. I recently went down to a usability of about 4 hours on my battery so I went and bought a new OEM battery to see if it helps. Well it did, I was able to get to 6 hours. Mind you this is 6 hours of standby mixed with maybe 1 hour of actual use. Today my phone shut itself down when it said it had 35% battery left. And I usually go from 100 to about 50 with just 40 minutes of youtube. Currently I am using SlimSaber 5.1.1. Im really having trouble using the phone because I have to carry around a 6000mah external battery pack and 2 batteries to make it through the day with moderate use. I think thats crazy since before I didn't have to do that. Should I just flash the full stock rom, radio, modem etc. would that work? Thanks

Poor battery life

I have an LG G3 16GB and have been disappointed with the battery life for some time now, with the Android system typically being the culprit according to battery doctor with it using 64% on average. Oddly when I go into android settings and view battery use it's telling me the usage is...
Android OS 17%
Screen 17%
Cell standby 12%
Android System 8%
So battery doctor is telling me one thing and the native battery use app is telling me another.

I do find the phone get's quite hot around the camera area which is annoying as I am a light user. When I view the battery doctor app it's telling me the amazon apps (kindle & shop) are trying to restart 40 or 50 times over a period of an hour.

Anyhow would I be better off downgrading to Kitkat or maybe trying another ROM such as CM12. Any other suggestions welcome?

[Q] How is battery life compared to G3? (g3 owner willing to buy g4)

So, title self explain. I have G3 and want to ask to someone who made the upgrade from G3 to G4. Is the battery about the same as G3 or is better?

Another person with blu life one 2015 stuck in recovery

Been stuck in recovery for about 5 weeks.

Blu doesn't have a stock rom for this phone.

Can't seem to talk anyone, with this phone, into doing a rom dump.

If anyone has an idea or owns one of the blu life on 2015, please post.

Also, please don't redirect this thread to:

That forum is for the older model and they don't have any info on this new model

NfcTagRelay - Automate your life by scanning tags with your Sony SW3

NFC Tags are awesome for automating stuff. Want easy to activate sleep tracking? Just set up a tag near your bed. Want easy to activate car mode? Set up a tag somewhere in your car. But they have one big flaw: to use them, you must take your big ass phone out of your pocket.

(In above example, I activate sleep tracking, disable always-on mode and enable theater mode by just touching the tag. Always-on mode is then automagically re-enabled in the morning when sleep tracking stops.)

NfcTagRelay is simple and light tool that reads tags using your smartwatch and then relays the tag detection event to the phone, so it can be acted upon using various automation apps such as Tasker.

How it works
Every NFC tag has unique ID that can be used to identify it. That ID is broadcasted via Intent to all apps on the phone whenever tag is scanned. It is broadcasted via two different intents:

Intent 1
Action: com.matejdro.weartagrelay.RECEIVED_TAG
Extras:
  • tagid = <ID of the tag>

Intent 2
Action: com.matejdro.weartagrelay.TAG_<ID of the tag>
(This second one is more useful for apps that cannot filter Intents by extras such as Tasker).

Tasker example
Here is my example on how I'm receiving tags via Tasker. As mentioned above, app sends events via Intents. That is why we will be using System -> Intent Received Tasker event.

1. ID Receiving Context
First we have to figure out what is the ID of the tag that we are scanning. For that we can use com.matejdro.weartagrelay.RECEIVED_TAG which also broadcasts tag ID.
  1. Create new context with System -> Send Intent event

  2. Under intent action enter com.matejdro.weartagrelay.RECEIVED_TAG (See attached picture 1.)

  3. In task that is triggered by this, copy contents of the %tagid variable to the clipboard. For convenience, you can also copy it along the rest of the second intent (see attached picture 2).

  4. After you get the tag ID, you can delete that context or just disable it to add more tags later. It is triggered when you scan any tag so you likely won't need it.

2. TAG Context
Now that we have the ID, we can create context that will be activated whenever tag with that ID is scanned. For that we will use com.matejdro.weartagrelay.TAG_<ID> intent.
  1. Create new context with System -> Send Intent event

  2. Under intent action enter com.matejdro.weartagrelay.TAG_<ID>, where you replace "<ID>" with the actual ID of the tag (See attached picture 3.)

  3. In task that is triggered by this, add whatever you want. This task will be triggered every time you scan tag with specified ID.

Installation
  1. Install Sony SmartWatch 3 NFC Support Package. Without that, NFC will not work at all on your watch.

  2. Install included APK to your phone

  3. After some time (usually up to a minute), app will be automatically installed to the watch (you will get notification). After that you may also need to grant the app NFC permissions (it will ask on the watch). Make sure you do, otherwise it won't work.

Huge thanks to user ebones. Without him, this would not be possible.

Battery life and Charging issues

Hi Guys,

Just bought a 8.0 version. So far I have few issues with it

1, The device must be charged with official samsung adapter which came with it or unless it only activates slow charge. I have few hi-power USB adaptors (2A) lying around of iPad which quickly charges iPhone and iPad within an hour or 2, I connected the tab with it but it gave the error message that it's not official samsung adapter and activated the slow charge which is painfully slow. It charges 10 % in 1 hour, so require to plug in 12 hours to charge it full.

2, I charged it full and left it for 1 day, didn't open it. On the second day, I opened it to find out the battery left only 5 % from 100 % , it drained 95 % in just a day or more doing nothing !!!

3, After that, last night I disabled notifications for all apps, disabled google account auto sync, disabled a lot of apps which I thought might be draining the battery. I left it at 80 % . This morning I woke up to find out it was left 64 % i.e. even after all notifications and sync disabled, it still sucked 14 % sitting idle in just 7 hours time. That is, still sucking 2 % an hour sitting idle. I find it pretty amazing, since even my iPhone with all it's notifications etc, the battery doesn't drop more than 1 or 2 % whole night. Comparing with 2 % an hour for this tab with all notifications disabled !!!

Is the system this bad in battery management? or is it normal for android devices?

Troubleshooting battery life on a T-Mobile S5 running stock KK

My wife has a T-Mobile Galaxy S5 running 4.4.4 kitkat and it's not rooted. She's getting horrid battery life... think ~ 30% battery left after 5 hours off-charger, without much screen on time... according to gsam, it's "always" the Kernel (android OS) and Android system that are the top 2 under app usage.

I'm tempted to suggest a wipe and reload... but I don't know what she should be experiencing for battery life...

What can I check to be better informed? Should I push her to move to 5.0 or 5.1.1?

Best device for best battery life for audio playback..?

Hello, dunno what's the longest estimatated playback time for an android photo (probably 15-20hours..) but for apple devices, it's now 50hours or even 80hours depending on the iphone model.. Quite crazy!! Why can't android improve that part..? Anyways, please tell me which is currently best for that.

Why do I have terrible battery life?

I just got my Z5 a few days ago, and the battery life is downright AWFUL. With stamina mode on, my phone drains about 1% every minute or two, just while browsing the web. What is going on here?

Is battery life getting better over time?

When I first used the OPT, I noticed that it loses battery *in standby* pretty fast. Screen on time was good but just leaving it be would drain a lot of battery. I turned off LTE but also noticed that it often struggled with cell network quality (which usually makes a phone look for other stations etc. thus battery is used a lot).

However, today, after a couple of days of use and maybe 3, 4 recharge cycles, it seems a bit better. Is there a chance that this is an actual effect (it could be something very different). Do batteries also get better after some use or am I just biasing my highly non-scientific measurements here?

:)

Absolutely Awful Battery Life Wiko Rainbow

Hi everybody,

I just bought this smartphone yesterday. Ive been pretty satisfied with its overall perfomance, the screen quality, the stock android it runs. Coming from a 512mb RAM device i couldnt be more satisfied regarding this smartphone pros.

However, I simply cant stand this smartphones battery life. Its absolutely awful, dropping to 50% in 2 hours with moderate use(Chatting on FB messenger, browsing the internet, listening to music). Even if i use the smartphone lightly(only chatting), the battery still drops awfully fast. I dont consider it normal at all, because my other smartphone with 1400 mAh battey lasted MUCH better, dropping only to 70/75% battery if i used it the same way I use this phone.

Seems like no matter how lightly I use this smartphone, the battery keeps dropping like i never seen. Any help there? Ive bought this phone 5 days ago, could the battery still be "asleep"? Any suggestions?

Thank you in the advance.

Battery Life Extension

To maximize battery life (I mean not how long it will last between charges but to maximize the long term lifetime of the battery - over the course of years...) you should never let the % get too low, but keep it topped off as much as possible, correct?

Nexus 6P expected battery life

Everything on the N6P fit my bill except I'm still a bit skeptical on battery life. Its got one of the biggest battery capacity right now of 3450 mAh + new marshmallow power saving feature but I'm worried about the power hungry Qualcomm 810. My current G4 is only with 3000 mAh which I get roughly ~3-4hr SOT of gaming/chat/browsing/GPS which only last me 2/3 of the day so I always carry two batteries. (I hate carrying an urine pack). Compare to N6P, G4 also use 808 processor. I'm wondering if N6P on single charge can finally last me a full day. I found none of hands-on got battery remarks, so wondering if anyone got any reference data

Horrible battery life?

I got an S4 i9505 replacement yesterday from my insurance company. It effectively seems to be new phone and battery, anyway when I turned it on it had 70% battery left, I logged into my various things and it sat about downloading and restoring and installing a 5.0.1 update, the process took about 30 mins and at the end of the 30 mins I had 9% battery left, I connected to the charger and it was full again in 30mins which I found odd.

Anyway let it sit on the charger all night, took it off this morning and with 2 mins of screen on time I am already at 94%, I can't see how this thing will last the day.

I am not a newbie, I have things like sync and GPS etc turned off and screen brightness lowered however in saying that even at the lowest setting it seems very bright.

Any ideas?

Android 6.0 Battery Life

One of the features I was really looking forward to on this new update, was battery and memory consumption. After a full charge and 12hrs of use, here are some screenshots of what it's looking like for me.

3:30 screen on time and still 25% battery life. On KitKat and Lollipop, using basically the same apps, I was nowhere near those numbers.

Find it amazing, specially knowing I almost doubled my usage today just to see what my numbers looked like. Looks like a great start with M6 for me. What's it looking like for you guys??

Abmysal battery life

Hello guys recent p8 lite owner here I am having huge issues with battery life, I charged it to 100% and went to sleep, data was off wifi off nfc off basically nothing was on and when I woke up 7 hours later battery is at 75% with 0 Screen on time.. even when data is off 3g sign shows above and most of my battery goes to the mobile signal according to the graph..

I only get about 90 minutes of screen on time per day, any tips on improving this? I have auto-sync on does it eat up lot of the battery life?
also is there a way for it to use 2g signals for browsing to save battery... should be able to switch o 3g,4g for high intensive stuff like youtube.. im assuming if I use 2g my standby time will improve a lot.

Thanks
