Note5 radio frequency HW hack



Hello,

I'm new to the forum, and having a real hard time identifying what is, and isn't possible regarding hardware manipulation. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note5 SM-N9208, which originated in Taiwan. I am on T-Mobile in the U.S., and I would like to make this device fully compatible with T-MOBILE's network. I am new to rooting, and flashing, so I don't have a strong enough understanding of the capabilities of such things. I was led to believe that it was possible to root, unlock the bootloader, change the CID, and flash the radio to the correct baseband/firmware (sorry if this sounds ridiculous). I have heard, however, that the different models will not accept firmware from different models. I don't understand what prohibits this activity, because the internals seem to all be the same. If anyone can explain this to me, or provide me with a way to accomplish this, if possible, I would be incredibly grateful.

How to change the CSC to enable the 4G frequency bands of another country !



Hello.


Living in France, and having imported a Hong Kong Galaxy Note 5, so it miss B20 (800Mhz) frequency band to have 4G optimally.

Is it possible to activate this frequency band or another by changing the CSC firmware? How to do please?

The only models currently offering all French frequency bands are the N920C and N920CD (Dual SIM)

Apparently it is possible to do it on a Galaxy Note 3 and 4 ....

[Q] Frequency



Im just asking out of curiosity.

Ive had the exynos note 4 and now the s6 (edge).
Ive used numerous cpu spy apps and never i saw any app record the frequency of our device pass 1.5ghz.

So, is our device locked only at 1.5ghz max or just that all cpu spy apps cant detect pass 1.5ghz of the exynos octa core? Or maybe any other reasons?



Band frequency and power consumption question



Hi.

I was wondering if the frequency used by a given carrier or even the carrier itself can have an impact in power consumption. I ask because I changed carriers a few months ago and I noticed a considerable decrease in battery life soon after.

Whenever I'm on mobile data, the device can draw up to 8%/h (I'm using Battery Monitor Widget for this) from the battery when idle for several minutes, until it eventually drops to 1%/h or less if left completely untouched during that time. If I use the phone, even briefly, and put it down, it'll start and stay using 3-8%/h again when idle. This doesn't happen at all when I'm on WiFi.

My old carrier used the 1900 Mhz frequency band for 3G (850 for GSM) and the new carrier uses the 900 Mhz band for both 2G and 3G. If I keep my phone in 2G only , the drain is not so bad (could be maybe 1 or 2%/h, still rather high, but not something I'd worry about), but on 3G it goes crazy. I know that signal strength can have an impact in power consumption because the radio is constantly scanning or trying to connect to a poor signal, but this happens everywhere, good or bad reception.
