App to send messages on airplane

My wife and I are going to be flying next week and won't be sitting together. Does anyone know of an app that we can both load on our phones to send messages via Bluetooth or WiFi direct?

Deep hibernation and GCM messages for Android 6?

Are those features available in Android 6? I believe there is no working xposed framework yet, so those shouldn't work, right?

U.S. Cellular LG G3 can't send text messages or call but can use mobile data?

My LG G3 has suddenly stopped being able to send messages and call, but I can sometimes use mobile data. Every once in a while I will get a Phone Activation popup when I power on my phone but I never wait to see if it will actually do anything. When I looked at my phone info it said I didn't have a mobile number. Is this SIM card related or software? I am on 5.0.1 stock unrooted.

Modified stock Messages app?

There used to be a modified version of the stock Messages app kicking around that was modded to not turn on the screen when a new SMS or MMS arrived. Anyone still have a copy?

There is a thread in this subforum where the app was modded to include the toggle option for whether or not the screen turns on, but it doesn't work and the OP seems to have abandoned the thread.

I don't care whether it's a toggle option or not, I just want to stop the screen from turning on when I receive a text.

Can't create messages / no messaging app

When i turn the bezel left, I can online read and answer to received messages. If there are no messages, I am not able to create one, as the three dots on the right site are missing. Also going into the list with all apps, there is no messaging app. In the manual it is displayed and described differently.

Is this the same for everyone? Or something wrong with my device(s)?
