A couple of questions about flashing

I flashed my phone first with stock 2.3.6 ROM using Odin 1.85 (with re-partition). Now I'd like to install CM11.

The problem is that CM11 requires CWM 6.0.4.5 and all CF-root kernels come with CWM 3.0.x.x. Is there any way I can root stock ROM with Odin and get the latest CWM immediately?

The way I came around this problem was to first root it with CF-Root-XX_OXA_JW4-v4.4-CWM3RFS, then install stable CM 10.2.1 which comes with the right version of CWM, then data wipe/factory reset + cache wipe, then installed CM11. Next came gapps, Semaphore 3.4.3s and KK44_BigMem_18-nov-13.

I'm thinking that something could have gone wrong because the install wasn't clean enough (the clock once showed 4 different time values, depending on which clock I was looking at on my screen - main clock, upper right or from the drop down menu). That was with bigmem enabled in Semaphore.

1) To perform a 100% clean install do I have to re-partition it with Odin? Or can I perform 'complete format' from within CWM that's important when installing new ROM?

2) If I'd like to switch kernel from Sema 3.4.3s to 3.4.3, what should I do? Is it enough to just install it with CWM recovery? Are wipes necessary? I think kernels are installed on 'Kernel' hidden partition, so there's nothing I can do to clear it somehow. Or do they put alter the boot partition as well?
