Desperate to Downgrade to Gingerbread

Moderators - my apologies if I have posted this in the wrong area and please relocate it.

if anyone knows a safe and proven way to downgrade my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 GT i1860 to Gingerbread I would be eternally grateful.
there is a lot of info below, but I find it is of no use asking for help without explaining what and where I have been up to so far, so please bear with me.

after suffering some woes and a near bricking it currently has Jellybean 4.1.2 Baseband 18160XXNA1- Kernel 3.0.31-1106830 se infra@SEP-64#2 SMP PREEMP on it,
plus it is rooted with a temporary CWM on the sdcard.

I need the downgrade to be able to run Copilot Live 8 or 9 - ver 8 worked fine on GB, but not on JB whereas ver 9 on JB is useless.
see this link: https://forum.copilotlive.com/copilo...ent=topic_link

some googling suggested downgrade was possible and I tried these 2 links:
1. http://www.droidviews.com/how-to-dow...android-4-1-2/
sadly Yandex would not give up the file.

2. http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/galaxy-ace2...erbread-455579
this link is what caused my near bricking and days of anguish.

the downloaded 18160XXLK6.rar file did not extract the 3 files named in the tutorial:
CODE_GT-I8160XXLK6_CL1211243_REV00_SEC_KEY_LK6-4G.tar.md5 -CSC_GT-I8160-MULTI-CSC-0XELF1_SEC_KEY_4G.tar.md5 and GT-I8160_EUR_XX_4G.pit
but it just contained I8160XXLK6_I8160OXXLK1_HOME.tar.md5 and SS_DL.dll and when I looked into the rar file itself it had some image files.

nonetheless I followed the instructions, but just put the one md5 file into Odin -more than likely that is where I went wrong because the phone ended up nearly bricked and had a Data partition that could not be mounted nor formatted, so I could not restore any CWM backups. after days of downloads I did get it back up and running.
I think it was HOME_I8160XXNA1_I8160BTUNA1_I8160XXNA1_1106830_REV 00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 that got it sorted enough for me to restore a backup.

no doubt I have been a right prat - I obviously know just enough to be dangerous, but please be kind to a 70 year old plonker
